heartbroken
While I was in New York, I got an email from one of my good friends from law school, Bill. While we haven't been as close since graduation as I would have liked, he still remains an amazing person.

#100happydays
I'm late to this party (it seems that I'm late to every party), but I'm going to attempt this 100 Happy Days challenge. I think it'll be good for me in a lot of ways:
- It'll get me posting to Instagram more regularly
- It will (hopefully) make me better about focusing on/remembering all the good things that happen in my day-to-day life. It's so easy to focus on the negatives.
- As I transition into officially TTC, I'll probably have my share of "BFN" days (both literally and figuratively). This should help keep me from ruminating on small setbacks.
Also, apparently if you finish the entire challenge, they send you a little book with your pictures in it! How cute! So here I go... today's Day 1! :)

an odd weekend
First of all, let me say that this weekend was absolutely amazing. Got lots of work done, and still had lots of time to relax and hang out with my husband. But there were a couple of weird (unrelated) things that happened...

productivity woah
This weekend was a whirlwind. So much so that thinking of where to start is overwhelming me! Here's a tiny recap:
- Friday: IKEA
- Saturday: 10k training run
- Sunday: IKEA build party

bootstraps
It's no secret I've been in a bit of a funk lately. One of those where you want to be free from the bondage of your own mind, but you don't know how to start. Well, sometimes in order to pull yourself up by your bootstraps, you need someone to help you find your bootstraps. Special thanks to Meagan for handing my bootstraps to me on Friday afternoon.

new year's goals
Seriously, how did it get to be that time of year again?? My friend Meagan suggested to me and Ashlye that the 3 of us make mileage goals for 2014. My goal is 365 miles. I figure if I can average a mile a day, I'll be doing AWESOMELY!

random musings
Things that I think about but don't warrant a post of their own:
1. There's floor on my floor! C has finally started putting down the floor in thenursery guest room. Oooooh... preeeeettttyyyy.... :)

healthy break
So since I've started this whole 52 lbs thing, my friend Ashlye and I have been reasonably dedicated to taking what we call "healthy breaks" at work, every hour on the hour. We just get up and walk down the hallway, no big deal, but it's good for our mental health. (Humans just are not made to work 8+ hours a day sitting at a desk.)

happy birthday weekend
This past weekend was my friend Ashlye's son's birthday, and there ain't no party like a 2-year-old party. :) I took a LOT of pictures of him opening presents, but here's some fun ones from the party.

good friends, good weekend
This past weekend C and I went up to Chicago to celebrate my birthday. For anyone who knows either of us, this is likely surprising to you. I hate Chicago (give me NYC any day of the week), and C hates cities. However, there were a couple of places that I wanted to go that are only in Chicago, and we both have friends who live up there.
It was true to The Year of Austerity in that we didn't spend a whole lot of money to have fun. We went to brunch with my friend Julie and her boyfriend, which was super fun! Then we went to a fancy knitting shop [side note: I'd never actually been to a yarn store. It seemed like an outing fraught with danger.] and walked around awhile. Then we went to Flor (with a detour at a baby store) and to The Spice House. The only thing we actually bought was brunch and 2 jars of spices at The Spice House.
