While I was in New York, I got an email from one of my good friends from law school, Bill. While we haven't been as close since graduation as I would have liked, he still remains an amazing person.

That's Bill next to me on the left

Anyway, he sent me an email saying that his parents had been murdered. I still don't really know how to process this information. They're not even my parents, and every time I get an email update from him or read a news story I feel sick to my stomach. I can't imagine something like this happening to me, and it breaks my heart to know that it's happened to someone who I know and love.

He's down in Phoenix now, taking care of everything. Being so strong. I think about him often, and I can't wait until he gets back home and I can give him a big hug. Sigh.

The video below was on the Phoenix local news yesterday, and I just watched it. Seeing my friend fall apart made me fall apart, and I really needed to get some of these feelings out on (virtual) paper.

I hope that his family gets some closure. His parents' deaths were so sudden and horrible, so really any news that could come at this point couldn't get any worse. This is a downer post, and I don't really have an overarching message. I just needed to share my sorrow.

  1. How truly terrible. I cannot imagine. Many good thoughts to him.

  2. Wow. Just unbelievable. He and his family will be in my thoughts.

  3. OMG WTF. that is unreal. many good thoughts and virtual hugs to him. :(
