not sacrificing

The thought of never making a roux-cheese sauce again is enough to make me want to cry, so I wanted to make a list of ways in which our new vegan-vegetarian lifestyle is NOT a sacrifice. Here goes-- feel free to add any of your thoughts in the comments!

  • Raw meat is fucking nasty. Never touching it again would NOT be a problem.
  • I don't even like a lot of meat (steaks, pork, any game, roasts... pretty much all I like are sausage/bacon, hamburger, and chicken breasts)
  • I don't drink milk by itself. And there are plenty of milk substitutes to use for cooking.
  • I'm allergic to eggs, so I won't miss those at breakfast time. (although I'm still gonna have a cupcake every once in awhile. yum.)
  • Yogurt, mayo, and sour cream all gross me out, so I won't miss those either!
  • I'm not really a sweets person, so no ice cream or milk chocolate won't be that much of a problem.
  • I actually really like most fruit.
  • I also actually like cauliflower and broccoli. And that's a start.
  • Plenty of foods I eat are already vegan, like pasta and Cheerios, so that's not a change.
  • Meat and cheese are expensive.
  • No one hates losing weight.
  • Losing weight and getting healthier likely means that I'll get pregnant-- hooray!

  1. I'm so jealous of a lot of these - not liking a lot of these things would make it a lot easier for me to be vegan!
Are you opposed to eating meat/animal products every now and then?
