Linking up with Kathy at Vodka and Soda for Humpday Confessions (everyone's favorite part of the week)
A caveat: I may be mistaken in my belief that this happens to all real runners. I blame Shut Up + Run for this belief. And a former co-worker, who did such a thing too.
Ironically enough, I didn't become a "real runner" until after I had already hung up my running shoes. It happened the day that C and I took Grover for a long walk along the Central Canal Towpath. We started up near our house and walked south toward the IMA. It was a lovely morning, and a nice walk.
As we reached the 100 Acres, it started to go south. I had to poop. And I mean right now. Since were were on IMA property, I was sure there would be a porta-potty around somewhere. My surety was misplaced. Fortunately (fortunately?!), since we had Grover along, we had poop bags. You better believe this girl dropped trou in the middle of the damn park (I was behind a tree, but...) and pooped in that bag. Of course all that was around me was freaking pine needles and poison ivy. I attempted to wipe with the bag, but it was only semi-successful. [By the time I got home, I had a serious rash going on. No wonder babies cry when they shit in their pants.]
Most fortunate part of the day? There was at least a trashcan around, so I didn't have to walk the 3 miles back to the car carrying a bag with my own poop in it. Seriously. I don't think C would have ever been able to look at me the same way again.
So that's my confession for today. I hope you all got a good laugh out of it, because it was freaking hilarious (and hardly any stories about poop aren't hilarious). Runners, has this ever happened to you??
Poop stories are ALWAYS hilarious. At least there was a tree for you to stay behind!
ReplyDeleteomg! you poor thing (for the rash). hey, when you gotta go, you gotta go!
ReplyDeleteyep i know for sure that happens! my friend ran a 10K and had to take an emergency dump behind a wall hahahahahaha!!!

There are no words for this story. Hilarious. Let's just say I'm happy for you that you had Grover's poop bags with you...
ReplyDeleteI had a friend who had to do this when driving on the highway. I was in the car and just glad she didn't bring the bag in with us!
ReplyDeleteYep - I'd say that definitely makes you a real runner! I am cracking up about you using a bag -- I guess I've always been lucky enough to be near a somewhat wooded area when nature called, and I just left it where it lay.
