For reasons passing understanding, I'm thinking about doing the Monumental Marathon next year. This is sort of a stream-of-consciousness post anyway, so here's my current thought process:
Reasons this is a terrible idea:
- It's in November. I'm planning on being pregnant in November (if all goes well).
- I've never even done a half-marathon.
- 26.2 miles is, um, REALLY FAR.
- The max pace is a 15 minute mile, which (at my current level) would be a real struggle.
- If I sign up on January 1st, I get a super discount on registration. This means that if I back out later, I could sell my bib without taking a loss.
- I don't have to run the whole way. In fact, running the whole way would be 100 kinds of foolish. I've been looking at this method, and I'm kindof digging it.
- I would continue to be healthy for baby. Having a regular exercise regimen (and a goal to work toward) would help me from getting complacent.
- I could say that I did a marathon.
- The course is so pretty. I really do love my city.
More to come...
Ah! I cannot believe you are saying this either... so happy and excited for you... I'll be waiting to see what happens :) you can do it!!!
