no-spend january

Erin over at Love, Fun, & Football posted last week about doing a January spending freeze, and it really made me want to join in! Although it may seem ridiculous, I was really disappointed in myself that I only paid 53% of my take-home pay toward my student loans this past year. I often joke that C pays for us to live, and I pay Sallie Mae. Well, apparently I pay a lot more people than just Sallie Mae.

Last year's spending

So I'm going to attempt to start the new year off right with a no-spend January. Here's what that means for me:

• No going out to eat (aww MAN!)
• No KnitPicks purchases
• No Amazon purchases, with the exception of my monthly vitamin subscription.
• No etsy. Don't even LOOK at etsy.
• No Target. Don't even go to Target. Nothing good can come from it.

Things I will continue to spend money on during no-spend January:

• My Monumental Marathon registration
• Gas for my car
• Car payment
• Student loans (duh)
• Netflix
• Cell phone bill
• NYT subscription
